The school is located in a delightful rural area, providing a conducive environment in which to be taught. The aim of the education provided is a well disciplined framework within which a child can obtain a broad and liberal education in a friendly, caring environment. The characters and talents of individual pupils are developed by stimulating, in all of them, an appetite for learning, curiosity about the world, well disciplined study and the ability to rely upon themselves. Pupils are encouraged to think clearly and express themselves accurately so that appropriate academic peformances may be successfully achieved in the years ahead.
All pupils participate fully in a variety of activities, as well as those forming the basic curriculum, including sports, music, drama productions and art. Foreign language studies commence at eight with French.
Pottery and other 3-Dimensional Design and Textile Design are included in the timetable for the ages 8-11. All pupils are offered a taste of what is to come in their secondary school to help them formulate sensible opinions of areas of the curriculum.
Pupils participate in a variety of physical activities during a week. Each pupil attends gym, swimming and all pupils from the age of 7 attend games on a Friday afternoon. Soccer, rugby, cricket, hockey, tennis and netball are on offer to both boys and girls.
If transport to and from school presents a problem a mini-bus service runs to various areas around the city.
The school has a Dyslexia Specialist who takes children with specific learning difficulties on an individual basis two or three times a week giving them support in whichever area they require it.
The school has a thriving Playgroup and Nursery Department offering excellent facilities for those under 5. Many of the Nursery children attend the school's Infant Department at the age of 5.
